About Heather J Aldridge, LPC
Heather Aldridge, LPC, received her MA in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. Much of traditional therapy today relies on the individual’s ability to change thinking patterns in an effort to change behaviors. Personal experience and countless stories prove that this is not an exact science and people often do not experience expected results. Christian, faith-based counseling provides an uncompromising advantage for the clients who realize that they are not alone; that they have promises from a living and active God from which to draw strength, and that they have a divine purpose for their life! Probably many purposes!! Bringing Christian faith into the counseling process can be a turning point for many clients.
Heather has a husband and three teenage daughters. She works hard to maintain personal friendships and work relationships and places a high value on the individuals in her life. It is no surprise then that Heather values the Relational Psychotherapy model as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). These approaches help clients move toward functional and positive relationships through awareness of unhelpful beliefs. Additionally, Heather will focus on strategies found in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which can help individuals recognize the power of the present moment and acceptance of pain, (which none of us can escape) as it differs from suffering (which we have much more control over). She enjoys reading a good book, watching crime TV shows, traveling, and coffee. (Maybe just a little too much).–
The goal of counseling is to help clients reach freedom in some particular area of their life. Most individuals feel stuck at some point or another over their lifetime. Freedom often comes in the form of acceptance. Other times it requires making choices that change current circumstances. Heather has personally experienced the benefits of a counseling relationship and trusts that together you can find freedom.
